Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple, Pondicherry

Lord Ganesha,  in his various forms is called in various names:  Ganesha here is called Bhuvaneshwar Ganapathy!

As we all know that one can find his temples near ponds, or under banyan trees across India,  Here also he had chose to grace his presence near a pond,  the pond was near to Bay of Bengal. Hence it was surrounded by Sand!!!!   You got it!!!   People started to call this Ganesha as Manal (sand) Kulathu(pond) Vinayagar,  which over a period of time has become Manakula Vinayagar!!!!! 

This temple could have got destroyed by the French settlers,  thanks to the strong bakthi and opposition from the local people, the temple has survived to date and Ganesha is showering his blessings on his devotees!!!

The temple is located close to the Pondicherry beach and near to internationally renowned Sri Aurobindo Ashram!

Pondicherry is well connected by road and rail, even though Pondicherry has its airport, it has very few scheduled flight service!!!!!
Food and Stay:  You can be rest assured to pick a stay of your budget, and you get to taste few french delicacies!!!!!

Speciality:  As against the people's belief that Ganesha is a bachelor, here in the night one can get to see the palliyarai Pooja of him with his consorts Sri Siddhi and Sri Buddhi!!!!

Prasadam:  People generally offer Coconut to him in a form of Garland, which is then distributed as prasadam along with Vibuthi!!!
